NFL GM Calls Tyreek Hill a No-Go for 1 Team

Tyreek Hill is still in free agency, and one NFL general manager has already ruled his team out. The veteran receiver is rehabbing a severe, multi-ligament knee injury from September, and that has left his market thin.

Tyreek Hill and the GM's line

The GM did not leave any wiggle room. “If he can’t take the top off a defense anymore, what are you bringing him in for?” he said, adding, “I think he’s going to have a long wait. He’s a no-go for us.”

That stance fits the way his market was described in February, when it was called tepid. A team looking at Hill now would have to weigh whether he can still stretch the field, handle a reduced role, and absorb the locker-room and off-field concerns that come with the move.

Chiefs remain the link

The Chiefs are the only team noted as a possible fit. They know him well, having drafted Hill in the fifth round in 2016 and later signed him to a three-year, $54 million extension in 2019 with $35.2 million guaranteed.

Kansas City eventually traded him to Miami during the 2022 offseason, and Hill then signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the Dolphins that included $72.2 million in guaranteed money. Heading into the 2024 season, he agreed to a reworked three-year, $90 million contract with $65 million in guarantees.

Hill's recent production gives clubs another reason to pause. In 2025, he played four games for the Dolphins, catching 21 passes on 29 targets for 265 yards and one touchdown before Miami released him in February 2026 while he was recovering from a significant leg injury.

For now, the clearest path is a wait-and-see one. The Chiefs are expected to monitor his recovery, and Hill's availability for the season opener is still uncertain.
