Arama Hau Locked In Until 2028 After Titans Extension
Arama Hau has signed a long-term extension with the Titans that will keep the 21-year-old back-rower at the club until the end of the 2028 season. The move locks in one of the Titans’ young local pieces as the club continues building around players tied to the Gold Coast.
Josh Hannay on Gold Coast identity
Josh Hannay said Hau’s signature is central to the way the Titans want to build. “Arama’s signature is crucial as we continue building a team that not only plays on the Gold Coast but plays for the Gold Coast,” he said.
Hannay also pointed to the way Hau has progressed since arriving in the first-grade picture. “He’s developing into a quality back rower and quality young man, and we look forward to his future with the Titans.”
Hau’s 2024 rise
Since his debut in 2024, Hau has scored five tries in 17 games for the Titans, with four of those tries coming this season. For a 21-year-old back-rower, that return has given the club a reliable attacking threat while it keeps investing in younger players who can grow with the roster.
The extension also fits the broader direction Hannay described. “We’re committed to growing a team that identifies with the Gold Coast and most importantly, a team our members and fans can identify with,” he said. “Our playing 17 currently features 13 players that were born or raised in South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers of New South Wales - eight of those right here on the Gold Coast.”
Titans keep local core
That local-heavy playing group gives Hau’s new deal extra weight inside the Titans’ roster plan. Keeping him through 2028 preserves a player who has already produced in limited games and who sits inside a squad built to reflect its region.
The extension lands while the club is also dealing with the fallout from a separate coach burner-account story that has circulated in recent weeks. Against that backdrop, Hau’s deal offers a cleaner football message: the Titans have tied down a young contributor and doubled down on the homegrown profile Hannay says the club wants to carry forward.
