Rspca probes 11 abandoned puppies after three die in Snowdon Park

The rspca is appealing for information after 11 puppies were abandoned in Snowdon Park, Chard, Somerset, with three already dead when a member of the public found them at around 08:30 BST on Monday. RSPCA chief inspector Lewis Taylor said the animals were left when they were only hours old.

One of the puppies found dead had a wound across its neck. The surviving dogs were taken to vets and are now being hand reared by foster carers in their homes.

Taylor said: "It's really sad to think that they were dumped at a time when they desperately needed urgent help and care. There is never an excuse for abandoning animals in this way." The charity said the puppies were too young to be able to tell what breed they were.

RSPCA appeal in Somerset

The RSPCA is asking anyone with information about the abandonment to get in touch, including the person who left the puppies in the park. The case leaves investigators with a narrow window to identify who brought 11 puppies into Snowdon Park and then walked away before dawn on Monday.

Chard puppies need care

The surviving puppies now need round-the-clock feeding and handling in foster homes, while the dead animals remain part of the investigation. The practical next step is simple: anyone who saw the puppies, or knows who was responsible, can pass that information to the RSPCA.
