Marcos Senesi Transfer News: Bournemouth Defender Set to Leave in Summer

Marcos Senesi transfer news has settled on one clear outcome: the Bournemouth defender will leave when his contract expires in the summer. He is 29, has spent four years at the club, and is now moving toward free agency after Bournemouth offered him a new contract.

That leaves Bournemouth facing the loss of a first-team centre-back just as the season reaches its decisive stretch. Senesi said, "I'm proud of everything we achieved over the last four years," and added, "I will look back at my time here with fond memories."

Senesi and Bournemouth

Senesi joined Bournemouth from Feyenoord in 2022 and will depart Vitality Stadium at the end of the season. He has been free to speak to European clubs about a free transfer since 1 January, and he is exploring options to stay in England's top flight.

His latest run of games has only strengthened his position. Senesi made only his second and third appearances for Argentina during this campaign, and his stock has never been higher after those outings.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus

Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus have been linked with him, while sources at Chelsea have played down any suggestion that they will make a move this summer. The attraction for interested clubs is straightforward: Senesi would be available on a free transfer, but they would still need to meet his personal terms.

Bournemouth did offer a new contract, but the move did not change his decision. The club are sixth in the Premier League, need two more points to set a record points tally and are on course for European qualification, with the Europa League or Conference League most likely.

Two games left

Senesi said, "For now, there are still two big games left of the season and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together." Andoni Iraola will also leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, giving those final matches added weight for a club that could still finish with its highest Premier League position.

The free transfer move puts Bournemouth into a familiar late-season trade-off: finish the campaign, keep the defensive structure intact, and then replace a centre-back who left on his own terms after a four-year stay.
