Pages Sparks Dodgers’ 6-0 Win Over Angels in Dodgers - Angels
The Dodgers beat the Angels 6-0 on Friday at Angel Stadium in Dodgers - Angels, ending a seven-game losing streak in the crosstown rivalry. Andy Pages drove the game with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, and the Dodgers added two more home runs to finish with three on the night.
That stopped the Angels from stretching their run against the Dodgers to eight straight and gave Los Angeles a rivalry win it had not picked up in seven games. Pages opened the scoring burst, Max Muncy followed with his 12th home run of the season on the next at-bat, and Teoscar Hernández added an opposite-field two-run shot in the sixth.
Pages and Muncy strike
Pages put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run drive in the fourth inning, then Muncy went deep on the very next pitch sequence. Those two swings turned a tight game into a 4-0 lead and forced the Angels to chase from behind against a Dodgers staff that kept the shutout intact.
Hernández finished the scoring with his own two-run homer in the sixth, extending the margin to six runs. He said, “Just getting the confidence back there,” after the game, and added, “Getting better pitches to hit, hitting the ball harder, getting on base, taking a lot more walks, just do[ing] the positive things for the team.”
Angel Stadium pressure
The matchup carried extra weight because the Angels had won seven consecutive games against the Dodgers before Friday. That streak was the longest active run the Angels held over their crosstown rival, and the 6-0 result ended it without the Dodgers needing a late rally.
Shohei Ohtani walked, doubled, and struck out twice against his former club, while Freddie Freeman did not play after Dave Roberts gave him the day off. Roberts said, “Couldn’t beat these guys last year, couldn’t beat the Brewers last year [in the regular season],” and added, “So it was nice to beat these guys.”
Snell and Klein
Blake Snell was scratched from his start Friday against the Angels after he was placed on the injured list because of loose bodies in his elbow. Will Klein opened for the Dodgers, and the staff piece held up from there as the Angels never got on the board.
Logan O'Hoppe left the game in the sixth inning because of irritation in his left wrist, the same wrist he fractured on April 25. The Angels catcher had gone through the night with the club already under the weight of the Dodgers’ power surge, and the result left the rivalry streak snapped before the series could grow longer.
