APD lifts Shelter In Place Austin after Northeast response
Austin police lifted a shelter in place austin order Friday evening after a SWAT response in Northeast Austin ended with a woman in custody. Nearby residents were under the order for about 20 minutes while officers worked the scene in the 6900 block of Blessing Avenue.

The initial call came in around 3:56 p.m. Officers responded to reports involving a woman threatening herself and established a perimeter. Police then called in SWAT officers and hostage negotiators to help resolve the situation.
APD issued the shelter-in-place order at 5:03 p.m. for nearby residents, then announced around 5:23 p.m. that it had been lifted. The woman was taken into custody after surrendering peacefully.

Police said the woman had barricaded herself out in the open, but there was never a threat to the public. APD said the incident ended safely and no injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released additional details about the woman involved. For people nearby, the immediate restriction has ended, and the police response closed without reported harm.
