Plex Raises Lifetime Plex Pass To $750 On July 1

Plex will raise the price of its Plex Pass lifetime option to $750 on July 1, 2025. The change hits only new buyers, while current Lifetime Plex Pass holders keep their access.

Plex Pass reaches $750

The new price takes effect at 12:01 am UTC, which is 8:01 pm ET on June 30. For anyone deciding between a one-time purchase and a recurring plan, the math shifts hard toward subscription tiers.

A $750 lifetime purchase would take 11 years to beat a $70 annual subscription. That comparison does not even touch the monthly tier, which Plex did not raise in this announcement.

From $75 to $750

Plex launched the Lifetime Plex Pass in 2012 at $75. It raised the price to $150 in 2014, then to $250 in March 2025, and now to $750. That is a 200 percent jump from the March price alone.

The company said it had considered eliminating the lifetime option in the past. It also said recurring subscriptions help sustain long-term development, and that the breadth of Plex Pass features and benefits has expanded over the years.

What buyers get now

Lifetime Plex Pass still covers streaming from a Plex Media Server on a device connected to a user's own network, remote streaming from the server, and remote streaming for other people from that server. Plex also said it is working on server and library management features for mobile and TV apps, dialogue boosting and loudness normalization, transcoding improvements, IPv6 support, and tools for grouping downloads by show, automatically downloading new episodes, and making and editing playlists in mobile apps.

For buyers, the real friction is simple: the lifetime plan keeps the same promise, but Plex keeps moving the entry price higher. The unanswered question is whether that pace settles after July 1 or becomes the new floor for future buyers.
