Harry Arnold gets 20 years for Folkestone rape convictions

Harry Arnold, a 38-year-old man from folkestone, was sentenced on 13 May 2026 to 20 years in prison after being convicted of raping two women. The sentence also includes three years on licence, life on the sex offender register and an indefinite ban on working with children or vulnerable people.

The case went through a multi-year investigation that began in February 2020 after one victim reported Arnold’s previous offending. Kent Police arrested him shortly after that report, and specialist detectives later analysed 15 electronic devices, extensive medical records and multiple witness statements.

Canterbury Crown Court

Arnold was convicted after a trial at Canterbury Crown Court. Police said a second victim later came forward, and the two women did not know each other. The case was presented to the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023, extending the investigation before the first trial outcome.

In February 2025, Arnold was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, while a jury could not reach a unanimous decision on the rape charges. A retrial followed in March 2026, and that second trial ended with convictions for multiple counts of rape against both victims.

Lizzie Burridge statement

Detective Constable Lizzie Burridge said: “This significant sentence reflects the courage of the victims and the dedication of Kent Police. They endured severe abuse and lengthy trials to see justice done. We remain committed to pursuing sex offenders and protecting the community.”

The sentence leaves Arnold with prison time, licence conditions and restrictions that continue after release. He is also subject to a restraining order and remains barred indefinitely from working with children or vulnerable people.
