For buyers, the naming choice matters less than the hardware shift itself, because the display is the part that would define the phone in hand.
Quad-curved OLED and Liquid Glass
The report says the display would be the first to wrap around all four sides of an iPhone. Ice Universe described the curvature as “extremely subtle,” which suggests Apple is not chasing the waterfall look used on some Android phones. The same report said the 20th-anniversary iPhone may gain a Liquid Glass Display, a term tied to the broader redesign rather than a routine panel refresh.
Samsung Display and the 2027 timeline
Digital Chat Station believed in April 2026 that Apple had lined up Samsung Display to produce the four-micro-curve OLED panel. A September 2025 report said Samsung Display was already working on Color Filter on Encapsulation technology for the Liquid Glass Display.
