Ford issues Ford Bronco Recall for 4,653 Bronco Sport, Maverick models

Ford issued a ford bronco recall and told owners of 4,653 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles not to drive them after finding a front suspension defect. The warning covers 2,296 Bronco Sport vehicles from 2021 to 2026 and 2,357 Mavericks from 2022 to 2026. Ford said the vehicles may need to be towed to a dealer for inspection.

The company said some affected vehicles may have front lower control arm ball joints that were incorrectly assembled or improperly repaired at the factory. Ford said the ball stud could partially engage with the knuckle, and the lower front ball joint could separate from the knuckle and possibly lead to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

Ford and Lincoln dealers

Ford said the affected vehicles will be inspected by a Ford or Lincoln dealership. If needed, the faulty ball joint will be properly secured to the knuckle attachment.

The company said the inspection and service will be free. It also said customers will be contacted by June 5 and asked to work with their local dealer to arrange an inspection at their location or have the vehicle towed in for service.

NHTSA report

Ford submitted a recall report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The report says Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.

Ford said it believes the issue will occur early in the Bronco Sport or Maverick’s lifetime, which places the warning near the start of ownership rather than after years of use. For owners, the immediate step is simple: do not drive the affected vehicle until a dealer has inspected it.
