Jordan Garcia Booked on Murder Charge in Las Vegas News

Jordan Garcia was booked into the Clark County Department of Corrections on an open murder charge after Anthony Anderson was fatally shot during a birthday celebration near The Dive Bar on Maryland Parkway, las vegas news reports. Police obtained an arrest report tied to the June 1 killing after the shooting was first reported that day.

Anthony Anderson at The Dive Bar

Anderson, his girlfriend, and Garcia met up at The Dive Bar on Maryland Parkway on May 31 for the celebration. Anderson's girlfriend told police the two men called each other “brothers” and had no history of conflict.

She also told police Garcia had been picked up from work by Anderson and his girlfriend, who were his roommates. That detail places all three together before the argument that ended the night.

June 1 Outside the Vehicle

Around 4 a.m. on June 1, the group began to leave the bar. Anderson insisted on driving even though his girlfriend had agreed to be the designated driver, and an argument started as they were leaving.

She said she heard a physical altercation outside the vehicle and found Anderson and Garcia on the ground together. She then saw flashes in her mirror that she believed were from a gun.

LVMPD determined that seven rounds were fired from casings left at the scene. An employee at the bar heard the shots, gave medical aid to Anderson, and told police Garcia said something close to, “I shot him and he tried to fight me.”

Clark County Jail Booking

Police learned the gun used in the shooting had been bought by Anderson and shared between him and Garcia. Anderson had the gun with him that evening because Garcia was at work.

Garcia was later taken to LVMPD headquarters for an interview, where he invoked his right not to talk and asked for his lawyer. For readers following the case, the booking means the accusation has moved from the scene of the shooting to the jail and court process, where the murder charge now frames the case against him.
