Wyatt Russell Praises Sebastian Stan in Avengers: Doomsday

wyatt russell says Avengers: Doomsday has finished most of its filming, and the cast member is already pointing to Sebastian Stan as the film’s standout so far. He also said the Thunderbolts worked a lot on set with everybody, giving an early look at how the crossover is being assembled before it reaches theaters on December 18.

Russell on set in London

“We have finished most of the filming, and all the stuff is done,” Russell said at the London Disclosure Day premiere. “It’s looking awesome from what I’ve been able to glean. [I] haven’t seen much, but I’ve seen some of the trailers and stuff. Just doing it was a blast.”

That puts him in the narrow group of performers who can talk about the film’s shape without giving away much of it. For a Marvel crossover, that means the marketing machine is still early, but the cast is already supplying a few concrete signals about the project’s energy and scale.

Sebastian Stan and Florence Pugh

“I can tell you Sebastian is amazing in it. I know David [Harbour]’s going to be great in it,” Russell said. He added, “We worked a lot on set with everybody, and Florence [Pugh], being on set with them, and all the other people that you got to be on set [with]. It was just a cool place to be. I have had a blast and I’m happy to get to be able to see it.”

Those comments matter because all of the Thunderbolts are returning in Avengers: Doomsday, which broadens the crossover beyond a single team-up and gives Marvel another place to fold those characters into a larger lineup that is expected to include Thor, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and the Fox-era X-Men.

December 18 release

The immediate takeaway for viewers is simple: the film is far enough along that Russell is talking about what he has seen, what he has heard, and who impressed him on set, but not far enough along for a full public picture. The next hard date is December 18, when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters.
