Dogan Says Trabzonspor Met André Onana's Financial Demands

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan says andré onana is likely to stay after the club met his financial demands. Manchester United still have not agreed a transfer fee with Trabzonspor, keeping the deal unresolved for now.

“I think Andre Onana will stay with the team. We’ve met his financial demands,” Dogan said while speaking to Ajansspor. He had already said last week that Trabzonspor wanted to move quickly and expected transfers to keep moving in the coming days.

Dogan and Onana

That latest statement extends a run of public comments from Dogan that point in the same direction. Last week, he said Trabzonspor speak with Onana almost every day and added: “We want him to stay, but of course everyone has their own life and plans. We have to respect that.”

He also said: “I don't think we'll have any problems in the coming days. But if we do, the management will do what's necessary. We'll find another goalkeeper of the same quality.” That is the friction in the deal: Trabzonspor want a permanent move, but United still need to settle the fee before anything closes.

Manchester United fee pressure

Onana spent last season on loan with Trabzonspor and helped the club qualify for the Europa League. He has also been linked with a return to Old Trafford to challenge Senne Lammens for the number one spot, while Besiktas are said to be interested in hijacking the move.

Manchester United need to sell Onana for around £20 million to avoid a loss under the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules, so the fee remains the key obstacle. Trabzonspor may have met the goalkeeper's personal demands, but the transfer cannot move forward until the clubs reach an agreement of their own.

Trabzonspor's next move

Dogan's latest comments leave Trabzonspor still working the same problem from both sides: keeping Onana engaged while pushing United toward a fee. He also said last week, “As we said, we're trying to act quickly. We're adding these players to our squad one by one,” and added that the club expected “5-6 transfers” but may end up with more.

For Trabzonspor, that keeps the goalkeeper situation tied to the wider rebuild rather than to one isolated transfer. For United, the number that matters is still around £20 million, and until that is met the Onana deal remains open.
