Seattle Fire Crews Upgrade Fremont Warehouse Blaze to 3-Alarm
Seattle fire crews were responding to a seattle fire in the 800 block of NW 42nd St in Fremont after reports of a commercial warehouse fire. Firefighters on scene said they found a working fire and began working to get water on it.
Officials asked people to avoid the area. Seattle Fire Department officials also told nearby residents and businesses to close windows and doors because of smoke.

The building was later evacuated as firefighters shifted to a defensive strategy. Crews put water on the fire from a safe distance away from the structure, a change that marked the move from trying to get inside to containing the fire from outside.
The source identified the fire as a commercial warehouse fire, and the response was upgraded to a 3-alarm fire for additional resources. That upgrade brought a larger emergency response to the 800 block while crews continued working the scene.
NW 42nd St Response
For people near the scene, the immediate guidance was to stay clear of the block and keep windows and doors shut. That left the main operational question at street level focused on access, smoke, and how quickly crews could control the fire without entering the building.
Firefighters were still dealing with the fire from outside the warehouse after the evacuation order and alarm upgrade. For nearby residents and businesses, the practical step was already clear: avoid the area and limit smoke exposure until the response eased.
