Jim Curtin to Lead Austin FC After 2026 — Reyna Soccer Scandal

Austin FC’s reyna soccer scandal angle is the coaching change: Jim Curtin will take over after the 2026 season, while Davy Arnaud stays in charge for the rest of 2026. The club made the move on Thursday, setting its future bench while preserving its present one.

Jim Curtin and Austin FC

Curtin will become Austin FC’s third head coach after the 2026 Major League Soccer season ends. He arrives after a decade leading Philadelphia Union, where he helped produce a 2020 MLS Supporters' Shield, a 2022 Eastern Conference title and a run to MLS Cup 2022.

His résumé also includes seven MLS Cup Playoff appearances, plus MLS Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year awards in 2020 and 2022. Curtin now has 141 regular season coaching victories, which ranks ninth-most in MLS history.

Precourt's decision

Anthony Precourt said the club was excited Curtin chose Austin FC, and he described the coach as one of the premier leaders in North American soccer. Precourt also said the club acted decisively so it would not miss the chance to add a coach of Curtin’s caliber.

That urgency came while Austin FC’s search for its next Sporting Director remains ongoing, with Excel Search & Advisory assisting the process. Curtin’s arrival gives the club a clear coaching plan even as the front office search continues.

Davy Arnaud will remain Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2026 season, and Precourt said the club remains committed to competing during that stretch. For Austin FC, the practical takeaway is simple: the current season stays with Arnaud, and the post-2026 reset now has a name attached to it.
