Buscando Corazones Nogales Searches After Nogales Search Anonymous Tip
Volunteers in Mexico searched again near Nogales after a nogales search anonymous tip pointed them to a grave over a stream in Mariposa west of the Arizona border. Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who heads Buscando Corazones Nogales, said the group returned to the stream area after receiving the anonymous call about Nancy Guthrie.
Ortiz said the tip led the volunteers to the Mariposa area, where they had already searched from April to May and found more than 25 unmarked graves containing the remains of at least 32 individuals. The search for the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie came up empty.

Ortiz described the tip in comments to El Imparcial, saying the caller told the group that Guthrie’s remains were in the Mariposa area in a grave over a stream, and this time we came to explore this stream that we failed to explore in the first intervention. That sent the volunteers back to the same stretch of ground near Nogales and near the Arizona border.
Buscando Corazones Nogales is working in an area that has already produced more than 25 unmarked graves. The earlier search covered the same ground from April to May, and the group said it found remains tied to at least 32 individuals there.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it had not been contacted by Mexican authorities after the group reported the anonymous tip. In a statement Thursday, the department said, We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico. At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities.
The department also said, This investigation remains active and ongoing and we will continue to follow up on any credible information. That leaves the search tied to the same open case that has been active for more than 100 days.
Nancy Guthrie disappeared after authorities found blood near the doorstep of her home in the foothills outside Tucson in February, and the FBI later released surveillance videos showing a masked man on the porch that night. Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have offered a US$1-million reward for information leading to her recovery, while the search in Mariposa added another pass through ground the volunteers had already combed once before.
