Littmann Says Annapolis Storm Left Nearly 800 Without Power
Severe storms hit annapolis late Friday, displacing two families after trees fell onto residential structures. By noon Saturday, Baltimore Gas and Electric said nearly 800 Annapolis customers were still without power.
Jared Littmann and city crews
Mayor Jared Littmann said he has been in touch with BGE governmental liaison officials and said some substations were damaged. The Annapolis Office of Emergency Management is coordinating the city’s response while the Department of Public Works keeps clearing downed trees from roadways.
Late Friday night, DPW sent cut-and-toss teams to restore traffic patterns and completed a 12-hour overnight shift. Crews will continue cleanup work with BGE as the city works through outages and road blockages left by the storm.
West Annapolis and Admiral Heights
The neighborhoods that appeared to be most severely impacted were West Annapolis and Admiral Heights. Most reports involving property damage were minor, and no injuries were reported.
At 7 a.m. Saturday, the Department of Planning and Zoning began assessing property damage. City officials also urged residents to treat downed wires as dangerous and not to approach or touch trees or branches near them.
