Gabriel Kannenberg Pushes Ufc 6 Toward June 19 Launch
EA SPORTS UFC 6 was set to launch worldwide on June 19, and ufc 6 arrives with new modes built around fighter individuality and online play. Gabriel Kannenberg, the gameplay software engineer behind parts of the project, helped refine the systems that sit under the action.
Gabriel Kannenberg in Vancouver
Kannenberg had worked with EA SPORTS and the UFC team for three years, after moving from Brazil to Canada to start at EA following an application a few months earlier in 2022. He said, "I wanted to be closer to people that were at the frontier of game development, and learn from them - to grow both personally and professionally."
That path put him on both EA SPORTS UFC 5 and UFC 6, where his focus shifted to tools and technology that support gameplay, low-level systems, and online services. He also described one of his favorite memories this way: "One of my favourite memories has been getting together with my team to attend a UFC Fight Card here in Vancouver. It was a lot of fun to experience that together!"
Hall of Legends and The Legacy
UFC 6 was described as bringing a new era of fighter individuality, true-to-life movement and striking, stunning visuals, and all-new modes. Hall of Legends and The Legacy were named as the new modes, giving the launch a clear feature set rather than a simple roster update.
Kannenberg said he was most excited for fans to experience Hall of Legends, and that tracks with where the game is trying to land: not just as another annual entry, but as a broader package with mode depth and a heavier emphasis on presentation.
Crossplay and time dilation
Crossplay and time dilation were the two systems Kannenberg specifically helped polish and improve in UFC 6. He said he grew into a more central role across EA SPORTS UFC and NHL franchises in 2023, which places him in the group responsible for making the game feel smoother once players are actually online and in matches.
The practical takeaway for players is simple: June 19 is the date to watch if they want the new modes, the updated movement, and the crossplay support that Kannenberg worked on. For a franchise built on feel, the launch will live or die on whether those behind-the-scenes improvements show up the moment the first fight starts.
