Maxx Crosby Trade Proposal Sends 49ers First-Round Pick, Mykel Williams

maxx crosby is back in trade chatter, this time in a proposal that would send the 28-year-old Las Vegas Raiders edge-rusher to the San Francisco 49ers. The suggested return is a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and edge Mykel Williams, a package that would reshape both teams’ roster plans.

49ers, Raiders trade proposal

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report laid out the deal as a way to move Crosby from a Raiders team that is rebuilding to a 49ers roster looking for more punch off the edge. The proposal fits a bigger NFC West race and gives San Francisco a veteran pass rusher while sending back premium future picks and a young defender.

For the Raiders, the return centers on draft capital and Williams. The 2027 first-round pick and 2028 second-round pick give Las Vegas added flexibility in a roster reset, while Williams would arrive as part of the defense’s long-term core if the trade ever moved beyond speculation.

Crosby and the Raiders

The Raiders had given no indication that they were actively shopping Crosby after a trade to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks fell through over a failed physical. That failed move left him in Las Vegas, and he addressed the situation afterward with a blunt message: “It's water under the bridge.”

He added: “It's a long time ago. A lot of things I learned about what's going on and what this league can bring. A lot of adversity, a lot of different things you can't really anticipate. But I've been through a lot in my life. It's nothing to me. I'm here and I want to be here and I'm excited to be here. I've got a lot of work to do.”

NFC West arms race

The proposal also lands in a division context that keeps the 49ers in the picture. The NFC West arms race escalated after the Myles Garrett deal, and the 49ers could use another high-end edge presence to match the Los Angeles Rams or get close to them.

That is the friction point for San Francisco: the price is steep, but the payoff is immediate pressure on the quarterback and a more dangerous pass rush as training camp approaches. For Crosby, the move would turn another round of offseason speculation into a direct challenge to a division contender’s front.
