Rod Brind'Amour Leads Hurricanes to 3-0 Game 6 Title — Carolina Hurricanes Parade

The Carolina Hurricanes’ carolina hurricanes parade starts after a 3-0 Game 6 win over the Vegas Golden Knights delivered the franchise’s second Stanley Cup. Rod Brind'Amour was part of the 2006 title team and helped bring another championship back 20 years later.

Brind'Amour and Game 6

Game 6 ended with the scoreline that matters most: 3-0. That shutout closed the series and turned the Hurricanes into champions again, with Brind'Amour now tied to both Cup runs in franchise history.

The title also frames the next stretch for the people in charge. Eric Tulsky enters the offseason with a roster that already has major pieces under contract, but three pending unrestricted free agents sit at the center of the first decisions.

Andersen’s playoff run

Frederik Andersen is the biggest name in that group. He posted a.874 save percentage in the regular season, then went to a.931 save percentage with a 1.41 goals-against average through three playoff rounds, and he added three shutouts along the way.

He will turn 37 in October, which puts the goaltending question squarely on Carolina’s front office. The Hurricanes also have Pyotr Kochetkov under contract, while Brandon Bussi has already been extended through the 2028-29 season.

Tulsky’s draft and cap room

Carolina heads into next season with just under $12 million in cap space, giving Tulsky some room but not much margin. The team also holds 2026 draft picks in Round 1, Round 4 and two picks in Round 6.

Alexander Nikishin gives the roster another layer after playing almost every game this season and finishing with 11 goals and 22 assists through 81 games. That kind of production from the blue line, plus a first-round pick in the same season the club reached the Stanley Cup Final, gives Carolina a real base for another run rather than a reset.

For now, the immediate image is the parade and the second Stanley Cup in 20 years. The next layer is less festive: keep Andersen or move on, and use a cap sheet with just under $12 million to protect the window the title just opened.
