West Brom's £1m+ Barney Stewart Bid Rejected as Jimmy-Jay Morgan Talks Advance
West Brom’s £1m+ bid for barney stewart was turned down. The Falkirk striker is still on Lincoln City’s radar, and a price north of £1m is being discussed for a player with three years left on his contract.
Stewart Draws Multiple Clubs
Lincoln City are understood to be willing to pay that fee for Stewart, which keeps the chase alive even after West Brom’s offer was rejected. He has become a live summer target after lifting his season total to 18 goals following a spell away from Falkirk.
Stewart spent the early part of the season on loan at Dunfermline Athletic, where he scored eight goals in 12 games before returning to Falkirk. That form has put him back in the frame for a move that could move quickly if the asking price is met.
West Brom Move On Morgan
West Brom have not been ruled out of another move for Stewart, but they are also in advanced talks to sign Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan. That gives them two attacking tracks at once, with one bid already rejected and another transfer now close to the finish line.
Morgan scored 14 goals in 36 appearances during a loan spell at Peterborough last season and added 21 goals in 46 appearances for Chelsea Under-21s. He has also represented England Under-20s and is in the final 12 months of his Chelsea contract.
Chelsea signed Morgan from Southampton for a fee in the region of £3 million in 2023, so West Brom are pursuing a forward who already carries a significant transfer history. For Stewart, the market now looks set around a fee north of £1m, with Lincoln City still among the clubs watching closely.
Falkirk Value Rises
Stewart’s profile has risen quickly. He went into further education at Heriot-Watt University in 2022, scored more than 40 goals across EoSFL and BUCS football in 2023/24, and joined Falkirk in 2024 before his recent breakthrough run.
He was named Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year on June 14, 2026, after also being shortlisted for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award. Mikey Moore won that prize, but Stewart’s award and goal return have left Falkirk holding a player whose price now sits well above the level of a routine summer sale.
