Rachael Munby opens Wigan £60,000 60 for 60 grant scheme

has opened Anglian Home Improvements’ £60,000 60 for 60 campaign for Wigan charities and community groups, with applications now being taken until August 1. The scheme is tied to the company’s 60th anniversary and gives local organisations a direct route to compete for funding or a larger makeover prize.

Munby, the company’s chief marketing officer, urged groups in Wigan to apply and to “shine a light on their unsung heroes.” She said, “We wanted to celebrate our 60th anniversary by giving something meaningful back to local charities and community organisations that make such a difference across the length and breadth of the country.”

Anglian Home Improvements 60 for 60

The campaign will support 60 groups across the UK. One group will receive a uPVC windows and composite doors makeover worth up to £24,600, while 59 other groups will each receive a £600 grant. Anglian Home Improvements said the scheme is open to community centres, volunteer-led schemes, charities and sports clubs, and applications must be submitted through its website.

For Wigan applicants, that means the competition is not for a single local award. Groups in the town are entering the same pool as organisations elsewhere in the UK, so many applicants will not receive funding even though the campaign is broad in reach.

Wigan groups and the deadline

Munby said, “In doing so, 60 for 60 is our way of not only saying thank you to the millions of homeowners and their communities that have supported us throughout the last six decades, but it is our hope it helps to build communities for the next six decades too.” The deadline gives local groups a clear short window to put forward projects that fit the scheme’s mix of community use and practical improvement.

For Wigan charities and volunteer-led groups, the immediate step is straightforward: submit an application before August 1 and make the case for why their work should be among the 60 chosen across the UK.
