Luke Hartley Describes Mellock Lane Fire Hours After Move-In — Liverpool Fire

Luke Hartley’s new home on Mellock Lane in Little Neston was hit by a Liverpool fire around 5pm on Friday, June 19, 2026, just hours after he moved in with Megan and Eppie. The family was safe, but the kitchen was destroyed and much of what was inside was left beyond repair.

Daisy New Alerts Neighbours

Daisy New, nine, heard the fire alarm, went outside to investigate and saw the smoke. Emergency services were alerted after that, and Yvette Radcliffe said her little girl saved the day through quick thinking and bravery.

Hartley said the girl was a hero and that she saved the rest of the house from burning down. He also said neighbours helped when they arrived, lending tools and planks of wood to board up the blown out window.

Kitchen Destroyed In Fire

The fire involved a cooker, and it is believed items left on the hob caught alight. That left the newly occupied house with heavy smoke damage across the rest of the property, while much of the contents inside could not be saved.

Hartley said the losses stretched beyond furniture and clothing. He listed beds, electronics, household essentials, his laptop containing years of work and personal files, his smartwatch, a games console and countless other items that made up daily life.

GoFundMe Appeal Nears £5,000

Hartley launched a GoFundMe appeal after the fire, and it had raised almost £5,000. The house now requires significant repairs before the family can think about moving back, and the scale of the damage explains why the appeal has become part of the recovery effort.

He said nobody was inside at the time, and that his baby was not in the house when the fire occurred. For the family, the immediate problem is a damaged home on Mellock Lane in Little Neston and a long repair job after a move that lasted only hours.
