Garrett Crochet has missed over a month, and there is no definitive timeline for his return. The Red Sox are being pushed not to force the issue while they sit at the bottom of the division after a sweep by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Chad Finn on the Red Sox
Chad Finn wrote that the Red Sox should not try to rush back Roman Anthony or Crochet from injury in a desperate attempt to make the season look salvageable. He added that neither player should return until they are in full health.
Finn also said the Red Sox, whose initial description of Crochet’s injury did no favors for one of the most important players in the organization, would be fools to bring him back before there is 100 percent certainty he is ready. That warning lands at a sharp moment for a club that has already fallen to 29-43.
Boston's 29-43 problem
The timing matters because the Red Sox are already carrying a season shaped by injuries and offensive struggles. Crochet and Anthony are described as two of the team’s most essential players, so any shortcut with either one would put short-term pressure ahead of a healthier return path.
That leaves the practical answer simple for now: Crochet stays out until he is fully healthy. With no return date attached and the team still trying to climb out of the division basement, the Red Sox have to live without one of their best arms rather than gamble on a quicker comeback.
