Bailey Zimmerman apologized on Tuesday after charges were filed over an incident investigators say caused $16,000 in damage at Sandia Resort & Casino in New Mexico. Court documents obtained by KOB 4 say the case centers on an arrest warrant tied to a May 27 incident after Zimmerman canceled his show that evening.
Zimmerman addressed “the events surrounding my canceled show in New Mexico in May and the reports that have followed.” He said, “First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino.” He also said, “To my fans who bought tickets and showed up expecting a performance, I am so sorry, you deserved better from me.”
Pueblo of Sandia and Sandia Resort
Zimmerman said he “never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful” and added, “I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired.” He said he “respect[ed] your community and the hospitality” and appreciated “the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land.” He also said, “I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”
Investigators say Zimmerman played golf with friends that day in May and intentionally burned other men with a cigarette. Investigators also say he threw instruments, tripped over himself and shoved band members during sound check. Security footage reportedly shows Zimmerman spitting toward a security officer.
Sandia police and the hotel room
After he returned to his hotel room, Zimmerman canceled his show. Investigators say Sandia Resort and Casino staff asked Zimmerman and his team to leave the property, but Zimmerman refused, and Sandia police escorted him off the property. Cleaning staff found his hotel room in shambles the next day.
Zimmerman said, “I am taking this legal matter seriously,” and said he is “committed to doing the work necessary to learn and grow.” The filing leaves the specific charges unanswered, but the record now ties the apology to the $16,000 damage figure and the canceled performance that affected fans who had already bought tickets.
