As of 5:30pm Tuesday, Desert Doppler picked up slight organization of showers and thunderstorms south of 1-15. Laughlin was the only community in Southern Nevada at that hour tracking some spotty precipitation potential, while a slight chance of showers was expected to move into the Las Vegas metro area between 12am and 5am.

Between 6am and 12pm, the chance of rain in the Las Vegas valley was expected to rise to 40%. Wednesday was forecast to be mostly cloudy in the morning, then to see decreasing cloud cover, with a high of 105° and a possible isolated thunderstorm.

The forecast also called for a stray thunderstorm that could bring dry lightning and gusty winds. Much of any precipitation that developed could evaporate because local conditions were warm and dry, but the region could still see a few sprinkles before the system pushes east in the afternoon and rain chances drop.

The airport could break its 100+ dry streak with this system. Overnight temperatures were forecast to fall to 86°, and gusty winds up to 30mph were expected Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with Thursday bringing sunny and hot conditions, southwest winds at 10-20mph and gusts up to 30mph.

Thursday and Friday

Temperatures were expected to stay hot on Thursday, with a high of 106°, before dropping back to the 90s on Saturday and Sunday. For people in the Las Vegas valley, the immediate window that matters is late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, when the briefest rain chance and the strongest shower potential were both centered.
