The Air Force Reserve’s 302d Airlift Wing will conduct flyovers over multiple Colorado communities on Saturday, with the F-35 fighter jet listed in the day’s public-facing display. The Monument flyover is estimated to be visible around 10 a.m., and that timing can change.
Firework shows have been canceled in much of Colorado this year, and the flyovers are part of the weekend alternatives meant to appear in the sky. People in Colorado communities outside Monument are included in the plan, though the announcement does not name every location.
Monument Around 10 a.m.
Monument has the only stated time on the schedule. That gives residents a narrow window to look up on Saturday morning, but the notice also says the times are subject to change.
The wording leaves the route flexible. For anyone planning to watch, the practical step is to treat the 10 a.m. estimate as a target rather than a fixed minute.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Sunday
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is also planning a drone show starting at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets and reservations are not required, and the zoo parking lot will open at 7:15 p.m. for viewing.
Organizers say parking is limited. The drones will fly at a particularly high altitude to be more broadly visible, and the show is expected to last about 15 minutes, weather permitting.
Alcohol, pets and personal fireworks are not allowed at the show. For people choosing the zoo option instead of the Saturday flyovers, that set of rules is the clearest guidance in the schedule.
The weekend gives Colorado two separate skywatching options: the Saturday military flyovers and the Sunday drone show. For viewers, the most useful plan is simple — watch early in Monument, then arrive after 7:15 p.m. if the zoo show is the one they want to see.
