Eileen Whelan Warns of Friday Storms in Cincinnati Weather

Cincinnati weather turns cloudy Friday afternoon, and Eileen Whelan said another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected after Thursday night’s rainstorm. Patchy, dense fog could slow the morning commute, then the day shifts toward more rain later.

Whelan, the 7News First Alert Meteorologist, warned: "Watch out for areas of patchy, dense fog for the morning commute following last night’s rain" and "Have the sunglasses, as well, with morning sunshine that could cause sun glare." She said the afternoon will bring "Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected during the afternoon hours."

Friday Morning in the D.C. region

Friday morning is expected to start sunny and warm before clouds increase later. The fog threat is narrow but practical: it targets commuters in the morning hours after Thursday night’s rain left the air moist near the ground, the setup most likely to reduce visibility in spots rather than everywhere at once.

The afternoon change is the main shift. Whelan said the storms are not expected to be as widespread or severe as Thursday’s, but she also cautioned that one or two storms could still produce "damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours."

Eileen Whelan on Saturday rain

Saturday stays part of the same wet pattern. Whelan described "muggy conditions" ahead of a cold front and said, "Overall, plan for more clouds than sun with highs in the 80s for your Saturday plans." She also said some more rain could arrive Saturday afternoon and evening, though no severe weather is expected.

That gives anyone with outdoor plans a short window to work with: the morning looks more usable than the afternoon, and the risk shifts toward showers rather than a stronger storm threat.

Sunday and Tuesday warmth

By Sunday, Whelan said conditions turn "comfortable" with a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures in the 80s. She added that "Very pleasant weather kicks-off the week, but a building heat wave will bring the returns of high temperatures in the 90s starting Tuesday."

She said, "Fortunately, this next heat wave won’t be anywhere near as extreme as the last one," which means the pattern changes again, but without the same level of heat that followed the weekend. For Friday, the immediate step is simple: expect a sunny start, prepare for fog in spots, and plan around another round of afternoon storms.
