Alexandra James said on Instagram on Wednesday, July 8, “Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to remove Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery.” She added, “Unfortunately, that means we will not be able to perform for you next week as planned. We are really disappointed as we were looking forward to getting back out and seeing you, and also what it means as far as bringing different types of people and music lovers together.”

Age of the Ram tour

Charley Crockett had announced a major run of summer shows earlier this year, and Twin Temple were listed as opening acts for the Troutdale and Paso Robles dates before their names disappeared from the itinerary. Twin Temple’s stage presentation is built around Satanic imagery, from an Instagram bio that reads “SATANIC DOO WOP EST 1666” to upside-down crosses in the logo, pentagrams in the outfits, and the two-fingered devil horn salute.

On Friday morning, July 10, a spokesperson forwarded Crockett’s statement: “I thought they were like Black Sabbath, but they ain't. Not today, Satan.” That line leaves the split in plain view: Crockett framed the act as a mismatch, while Twin Temple said the removal came because of their imagery. For readers holding tickets to those two dates, the practical change is simple — the opening act is gone, and the bill is now missing the duo that made the run visually unusual.

Black Sabbath

Twin Temple are slated to tour with Danzig in September, so the move does not end their live schedule; it only cuts them out of Crockett’s summer run. Crockett had been pictured with Twin Temple at the Grammy Museum in 2002, which makes the break feel less like a casual lineup shuffle and more like a sharp reset in a relationship that had already existed in public. Whether Crockett personally made the removal decision or whether it came from his team is not explained, and that is the one question left standing after the announcement.
