Nathan Lowe has signed a new Stoke City contract until 2029 and agreed a loan move to Hibernian, giving the 20-year-old striker a longer-term future at his parent club while setting up his next spell away from the Potteries.
The move matters for both sides. Stoke have tied down a player who has come through their youth system, while Lowe now gets a fresh challenge in the Scottish top flight and in the UEFA Conference League.
Another step in Lowe’s development
Lowe has already shown he can score goals on loan. Last season, he netted 11 times with Stockport and Wycombe in League One. Before that, he hit 16 goals in the first half of the 2024/25 season with Walsall in League Two before being recalled in January.
That record explains why Stoke have moved to secure his contract before sending him out again. For a young striker, consistency in different environments can be just as important as staying in one place, and Lowe has now shown he can produce at more than one level.
What Hibernian offer
Hibernian finished fifth in the Scottish top flight last season, which earned them a place in the UEFA Conference League. That gives Lowe a chance to play in a competitive setting with added European exposure, something that should add to his experience as he continues to develop.
The deal also arrives as Stoke have already started pre-season. On Friday, they opened their fixtures with a 1-0 defeat to Braga in a behind-closed-doors game at St George’s Park, but the Lowe news is a separate boost for the club’s long-term planning.
For Stoke, the move keeps an emerging striker under contract through 2029. For Lowe, it is another opportunity to build on a loan career that has already taken him through League Two and League One, and now into a higher-profile stage with Hibernian.
