Jimothy Raccoon has turned a deformed Seattle raccoon into an online fixture. Residents have been posting videos of the animal moving through backyards, balconies, and a suburban yard, while the clips spread across Seattle subreddits and beyond.
One Instagram video showed Jimothy darting up a set of stone stairs. Another sighting captured the raccoon on a balcony railing, squeezing between two bars before disappearing out of frame.
Seattle subreddits and One Instagram
The reaction has been loud enough to make Jimothy a regular presence on Seattle subreddits and on subreddits like Weird and Creepy. Posts about the raccoon have drawn thousands of likes and comments, with one Reddit user writing, "This is the most Seattle animal possible."
Other commenters leaned into the joke culture around the animal. "Hot Jimothy Summer," one Reddit user wrote. Another said, "He needs to be protected at all costs," reflecting how quickly the raccoon has become a shared local character rather than a one-off sighting.
short spine syndrome and Jimothy
Observers think Jimothy may have short spine syndrome, a very rare congenital condition that significantly shortens the spine. Jimothy has not been formally diagnosed, so the current label rests on appearance rather than a veterinary finding.
That gap matters because it separates a viral look from a medical conclusion. For now, the public record is simple: only a few videos of Jimothy have emerged so far, but those clips have been enough to make the raccoon a recurring Seattle subject online.
