Maya Jama is in talks to replace Emma Willis on The Voice UK, putting the series 15 hosting slot in play before filming starts in autumn. Willis has seemingly left after 12 years, and ITV is now managing the change around a primetime show that still needs its presenting line-up settled.
The 31-year-old has held multiple meetings with ITV producers about the role. One source said: “The Voice producers and her did have meetings but because of her other commitments, the conversation didn’t progress.” That leaves the decision tied to Jama’s wider schedule, not just ITV’s preference.
ITV and Maya Jama
ITV has already set out the formal position on the new series: “As with each new series, we are in discussions about talent for The Voice series 15. Any announcement will be made in due course.” That keeps the process open while the autumn filming window approaches, which is the practical deadline for any host switch.
Jama’s latest ITV1 primetime work would follow Walk The Line and certain Love Island episodes. For ITV, putting her into a returning flagship slot would be a straightforward way to refresh the front end of the format without changing the show itself.
Emma Willis after 12 years
Willis’s exit comes after 12 years on The Voice UK, and she is said to be joining Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe as part of the ’s new presenting team for Strictly Come Dancing. That move explains why ITV is now looking for a replacement rather than simply extending the existing line-up into series 15.
Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones will not return for series 15, after quietly quitting because of scheduling commitments. The present shape of the series is already changing before cameras start rolling, so the host decision is now one of the few remaining public pieces in place.
The Voice series 15
The open question is whether Jama actually accepts the job. She is said to be evaluating opportunities in the UK and Stateside, and one source added: “Right now, she and her management are evaluating all of the opportunities and planning her next moves.” If she passes, ITV still has to lock in a new face before autumn filming begins.
