Jessie J says she and Chanan Colman ended their romantic relationship some time ago. She also says they are still showing up as parents to Sky.
In her Instagram post, she called it a “sad and difficult situation” and said the pair chose to handle the change “privately and positively for a healthy and happy co parenting environment” for their son and themselves. She added that they will keep supporting each other “with love, respect and care as friends and most importantly being Skys Mum and Dad.”
Instagram post after silence
The timing matters because Jessie J wrote that the split happened before rumours could harden into a false narrative. Her wording is direct: “Unfortunately being in the public eye this is the easiest way to let people know the truth, before rumours circulate or a false narrative is written.”
That is the practical read of the post. She was not announcing a new relationship arrangement for attention; she was trying to set the terms of the story while leaving the family unit intact in public view.
Sky stays at the center
Sky gives the split its real-world stakes. Jessie J said that if people see them out and about together as a family, or posting each other on socials every now and again, “That’s exactly what we are doing.”
She closed with a plain instruction for how to read their future appearances: “Raising and loving Sky together, supported with a positive friendship.” For readers, that means any shared outings or online posts should be read as co-parenting, not a reconciliation cue.
Three years after Sky
The relationship history sits just behind the announcement. Jessie J first went public with Colman in 2023, and they are believed to have been together since around 2021. Their son arrived in May 2023, so the split lands three years after that birth and after a long stretch in which the pair had already moved from romance into parenthood.
Jessie J had previously described Colman as “the calm to my crazy,” “the peace to my fear” and “the Daddy to my baby.” She also called him “a beam of light” that “lit up my dark days,” which makes the current message feel less like a clean break than a controlled rewrite of a family life already built in public.
Cancer-free, then change
Jessie J’s personal timeline makes the breakup land harder. Last year she announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, stepped back from performing for treatment, and in May wrote after a check-up and MRI: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE !!”
She told Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast that she sobbed for hours after the all-clear and said, “I feel like cancer has robbed me of memories with my boy.” She also said, “I have missed stuff with the treatment and stuff moves so fast when you have a toddler.”
That is why this split reads as more than a private relationship note. Jessie J is drawing a firm line around co-parenting, and she is doing it after a year in which health, recovery and motherhood were already pushing the family into a different rhythm.
