Broadway and Fourth Avenue

The crash happened at a busy downtown intersection, and police said the driver was 87 years old and from Kentucky. Metro Nashville Police said the vehicle hit four pedestrians before emergency crews took three of them to the hospital and pronounced one person dead where the collision happened.

Traffic Division

The Metro Nashville Police Department's Traffic Division is investigating the crash. Police had not released the identities of the people involved when the report was issued, so the public account so far is limited to the location, the time, and the number of people hit.

What led up to the collision has not been disclosed. That leaves the most basic question for investigators: how the vehicle reached four pedestrians at Broadway and Fourth Avenue in the middle of the day.
