Apple said when will iOS 27 be released: widely on Monday, September 14. The update should reach supported iPhones around 10 a.m. Pacific Time and 1 p.m. Eastern Time through the Settings app under General and Software Update.
iPhone 11 series support
iOS 27 works on the iPhone 11 series and newer, so the base update reaches a wide slice of older hardware. That gives owners a set time to check for the download instead of waiting for a vague rollout window.
Siri AI on iPhone 15 Pro
The sharper split is in Apple Intelligence. Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and newer, so not every device that can install iOS 27 gets the same feature set. Apple also said Siri AI will not be initially available in the EU on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and watchOS 27, and that it starts in English with daily usage limits.
Apple Cash and Apple Intelligence
Apple said iOS 27 adds a U.S.-only bill-splitting feature powered by Apple Cash and Apple Intelligence. The company also said app launches are up to 30% faster, new photos in the Photos library load up to 70% faster, and AirDrop transfers are up to 80% faster.
T-Mobile in the U.S. and Deutsche Telekom in Germany will be the first carriers to offer iPhone Handoff, and T-Mobile is set to charge $5 per month for it. Apple said Verizon and the UK's EE plan to offer iPhone Handoff by the end of the year, which leaves the practical question for many users: whether their carrier and country get the new call-switching feature at the same pace as the software itself.
