Grace Reiter is joining Saturday Night Live as a featured player for Season 52, giving the show another new face just as the cast resets for a new run. Saidah Belo-Osagie is also in the incoming group, and the additions arrive after recent departures from the series.
Deadline said Reiter and Belo-Osagie were first eyed at showcases and then at screen tests, which is the kind of audition path that usually signals the show is looking for performers who can survive both live timing and short-form character work. Reiter was one of the original members of Stapleview and is from Chippewa Falls, WI, with credits that include Minimum Wage, The Chair Company, and The Hunger Games (but Better).
Season 52 Cast Reset
Chloe Fineman left Saturday Night Live after seven seasons, while Martin Herlihy departed after five seasons and had most recently been working as a writer on the show. That turnover left room for new featured players, and Grace Reiter and Saidah Belo-Osagie now fill part of that opening.
Reiter’s background fits the show’s usual hiring pattern: the series tends to favor performers who have already built a sketch voice before arriving. Her work on Stapleview matters here because the job of a featured player is less about name recognition than about quickly proving range in a crowded ensemble.
Saidah Belo-Osagie And The Balance
Saidah Belo-Osagie comes into Season 52 as a Queens, NY-based up-and-comer who created Afrobeats Futura and Saidah Gets Closure and wrote and directed Tinge. Saturday Night Live added her after a season with no Black female cast members, after sources said producers had been looking to rectify that following Ego Nwodim’s surprise exit in the fall of 2025.
The change does not come with a neat accounting of how much the ensemble balance shifts, but it does show the show making a targeted correction rather than a broad overhaul. For a live sketch series, those choices shape not just who appears on screen, but which types of characters, accents, and ensemble pairings become available week to week.
September 26 At 11:30 p.m. ET
Saturday Night Live premiered Season 52 on September 26 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT, with Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks hosting and KATSEYE as musical guest. Sources said the show may shoot its new title sequence featuring the new players as soon as tomorrow, which would put Reiter and Belo-Osagie into the season’s visual reset almost immediately.
That is the part worth watching: if Reiter gets folded into the opening credits quickly, Saturday Night Live is not treating her as a bench addition. It is giving her the kind of early visibility that usually means the show intends to use her right away, not ease her in later.
