Three days after Ashley Flynn’s killing on February 19, Tipp City’s police department said federal authorities, county and state partners were part of the investigation. On the same day, authorities arrested and charged Flynn after questioning his intruder theory, and on Friday, February 20, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Bodycam video later captured officers asking about firearms in the house. Flynn answered: “A shotgun and a 22, and, like, a pellet gun. And I have a handgun in my truck glove box.” He also told police, “I laid down with them for I don't even know how long, and that's when I heard it,” and, “When I finally got in the door leading to the garage was open, but I didn't see anybody.”
Ohio and the bond
A month later, Flynn was indicted for murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and intimidation of a victim or witness in a criminal case. Prosecutors are no longer relying on the intruder story as a stand-alone account; the added tampering and intimidation charges point to a case built around what happened after the shooting as well as before it.
