Witney Carson addressed Is Guillermo Still On Dancing With The Stars on Sept. 29 after she and Guillermo Rodriguez landed in the bottom three for the third week in a row. She said she is very happy they are continuing on, even as fans wondered whether she wanted out amid her pregnancy.
“I do feel like I need to address some rumors going around or some opinions, speculations, whatever you want to call it,” Carson said in a Sept. 29 TikTok video. She added that the bottom three does not necessarily mean those couples have the lowest votes, but it does mean they do not get to celebrate being safe.
Sept. 29 TikTok response
Carson’s explanation landed the same day she and Rodriguez earned their highest score yet, 15 out of 30, on Yacht Rock Night. The pair performed a foxtrot to “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes, and the score gave their run a cleaner read than the safety bubble suggested.
That split is the useful part for viewers tracking the competition: being named in the bottom three is a placement inside the show’s elimination structure, not a direct vote total. Carson spelled that out plainly, saying the show only reveals who is going home when couples are in that group.
Guillermo Rodriguez and the vote floor
Carson said that when she and Rodriguez were safe, her first reaction was sadness for whoever was leaving. She then said, “Yes, I am very happy that we're continuing on,” which is the clearest answer to the speculation that she wanted elimination.
She also pushed back on the idea that the bottom-three run reflected a lack of commitment from Rodriguez. “I am truly so grateful to continue on in this competition week after week with Guillermo because he really deserves it,” she said, adding that “He is genuinely a kind person. He genuinely wants to get better. He never gives up.”
Carson, Rodriguez, and the run
Carson’s praise matters because the show’s own scoring history gives her argument some weight. Rodriguez and Carson have now gone through three straight weeks in the bottom three, yet their Sept. 29 foxtrot still produced a season-high 15 out of 30, which suggests the pair can improve even while the elimination board keeps tightening around them.
She closed the TikTok with a line that reads less like damage control than a defense of effort: “What you see on Tuesdays is his very best.” That leaves the next elimination decision as the only real checkpoint left for viewers who want to know whether the duo’s climb survives another week.
