Kandice Gunter Casper WY was reported missing after she did not pick up her two children from the Boys & Girls Club, and the Casper Police Department said the 30-year-old was last seen in Natrona County on the morning of Oct. 29, 2026. Her cellphone was later located near Highway 387, adding a new fixed point in a search that began when her family could not reach her.

Kayla Gunter said she reported her sister missing after Kandice did not collect the children, ages 9 and 6, from the after-school program on Wednesday. She said the sisters last spoke at 10:41 a.m. local time Wednesday, and the conversation gave no indication anything was wrong.

Kayla said, “That's why I started freaking out,” after Kandice stopped answering calls. She also said, “It's totally out of character for her not to show up to get her kids.” The family was told the phone pinged near Gillette around noon Wednesday, before police later placed the last cellphone location at about 12:30 p.m. MT on Friday along Highway 387 near the Natrona County line.

The Casper Police Department said Gunter was last known to be traveling in a gray 2016 GMC Canyon pickup with a Wyoming temporary registration. That vehicle description gives the search a specific target for anyone who may have seen the truck near Casper or along Highway 387.

Police said she was staying with the children’s father and helping care for them after moving from Nevada to Casper about a month earlier to be closer to her children. Her family describes her as 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 185 pounds, with black hair, blue eyes and a butterfly tattoo on her neck.

Gunter family details

Public posts from Kandice Gunter add a small window into her life before she disappeared. In June, she wrote, “focusing on a better me. Again,” and in the days before she disappeared she wrote, “Success for me, happens in silence.” A separate post from TK Kentopp said, “I looked so hard but there’s so much wide open spaces with one set of sad eyes hope you’re okay!! 14 years you’ve been in my life and can’t end it like this Kandice Gunter,” showing how quickly the search spread beyond the family.

The unresolved question is what happened after her last known phone location near Highway 387 on Friday. For now, the most useful step for the public is simple: check whether they saw the gray GMC Canyon or have any contact that could place her after that point.
