Maple Leafs’ Joshua Celebrates Cancer Victory with Gratitude
                                November holds special significance for Dakota Joshua, a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It marks a year since his triumphant return to hockey following a personal battle with cancer. Last November 14, he stepped back onto the ice with the Vancouver Canucks, celebrating a recovery that began with a testicular cancer diagnosis in the summer of 2024.
Joshua’s Cancer Journey
The road to recovery was challenging for the 29-year-old athlete. After undergoing surgery in September 2024, he fought hard to regain his place in the sport he loves. His journey reflects the theme of Hockey Fights Cancer Month, emphasizing resilience and the support of the hockey community during times of hardship.
Transition to the Maple Leafs
On July 17, 2025, Joshua was acquired by the Maple Leafs from the Canucks in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft. Since joining, he has played primarily on the fourth line, contributing three points (two goals and one assist) in the current season.
