Background and Expectations
Cameron Boozer arrived in Durham as ESPN’s third-ranked national recruit, while Cayden was ranked sixteenth. The pair joined Duke’s highly regarded recruiting class, with Cameron focusing on the interior and Cayden taking up a role in the backcourt.
Before their official debut, the Boozer twins participated in various pre-season events, including the annual “Countdown to Craziness” and an exhibition game against UCF. Cameron excelled in the exhibition against UCF, scoring 33 points and collecting 12 rebounds.
Reflecting on their first regular-season game, Cameron noted that the atmosphere was special. “I’d say ‘Countdown’ was definitely special, though. The first time playing in Cameron with fans there, the environment, the intros and everything. It was super cool,” he shared.
Cayden added, “Obviously it’s more important since it’s the regular season. But those exhibition games really help. Playing against really good players in college … really good teams. I feel like all those games prepared us for today.”
As the season progresses, the Boozer twins will likely continue to play a pivotal role in Duke’s pursuit of success in college basketball.
