Devils’ Zack MacEwen Returns for Islanders Showdown
The New Jersey Devils are set to welcome back forward Zack MacEwen for their matchup against the New York Islanders. This announcement was made by head coach Sheldon Keefe.
Zack MacEwen’s Comeback
Zack MacEwen has been limited to one game this season. He left the Devils’ 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 11 due to an undisclosed injury. Subsequently, he was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
Acquisition and Previous Performance
New Jersey acquired MacEwen from the Ottawa Senators before the season in exchange for forward Kurtis MacDermid. The player hails from Charlottetown, P.E.I., and had a mixed season last year.

Career Overview
After going undrafted following his junior career in the QMJHL, MacEwen signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks in 2017. He spent four years with the Canucks organization, predominantly playing for the AHL’s Utica Comets. At the beginning of the 2021-22 season, he was claimed off waivers by the Flyers and was later traded to the Kings mid-way through the following season. In the offseason, he signed a three-year deal worth $2.325 million with the Senators.
