Taylor Swift Updates ‘Reputation’ Lyrics on Apple Music

Taylor Swift has updated the lyrics to two songs from her acclaimed 2017 album, Reputation, available on Apple Music. This revelation has stirred excitement among her fans, sparked by changes revealed on December 12, during an update that enhanced all of her albums with Dolby Atmos sound.

Lyric Changes in Reputation

The songs with revised lyrics are “I Did Something Bad” and “Delicate.” In “I Did Something Bad,” Swift’s new lyrics state:

  • “If a man talks s*, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he calls me a bitch, then he had it coming.”

This revision contrasts with the original lines, which included a different phrasing about a man dropping her name. In “Delicate,” Swift’s lyrics changed from:

  • “Oh, damn, never seen that color blue” to “Goddamn, never seen that color blue.”

Fan Speculation

The updates have led fans to speculate on social media. Some believe the new lyrics may have been recorded in preparation for the anticipated release of “Taylor’s Version” of Reputation. Fans are eager for potential unreleased vault tracks associated with the upcoming rerecording.

Background on Rerecording

To date, Swift has rerecorded most of her earlier albums, known as “Taylor’s Version,” following the sale of her master recordings by Big Machine Records. After regaining control of her music rights in May 2023, Swift expressed her challenges with reimagining Reputation. In a note to fans, she shared:

  • “All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposefully misunderstood…”

She emphasized that while she has fully rerecorded her debut album, the timing for further releases from the Reputation era remains uncertain.

Recent Projects

Alongside the lyric updates, Swift’s new docuseries, The End of an Era, debuted on Disney+. This series offers a behind-the-scenes look at her record-breaking Eras Tour, which took place from March 2023 through December 2024. Additionally, she released a concert movie titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show, filmed in Vancouver during her tour.

As fans eagerly anticipate Swift’s next moves, the changes to Reputation’s lyrics have added a fresh layer of intrigue to her expansive and celebrated discography.
