The outpouring of community support has been significant, with residents stopping by the Uxbridge Police Department to deliver food and coffee. State Representative Michael Soter remarked on LaPorta’s character, noting, “He was a gentleman, respectful, and loved his family and town.” Counseling services are being offered to officers and members of the Uxbridge Police Department during this difficult time.
As the investigation continues, authorities call on any witnesses to come forward with information. Officer LaPorta’s sacrifice is a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day to ensure public safety.
