Gautam Gambhir Disagrees with BCCI Selectors, Sparking India Star Controversy

A contentious discussion has emerged regarding the alignment between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors and the Indian cricket team’s management. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has voiced his concerns, particularly about the treatment of all-rounder Nitish Reddy.

Chopra highlighted the case of Reddy, who, despite frequent selection, has rarely been given opportunities to showcase his skills. The cricketer, only 22 years old, has been a part of almost every Indian squad but often sits on the bench during crucial matches. Chopra pointed out that when Reddy does play, he is not utilized effectively, raising doubts about the selectors’ and coaches’ perspectives on player potential.

Concerns Over Selection Strategy

Chopra further suggested that if Reddy continues to sit out, then participating in domestic competitions like the Vijay Hazare Trophy could be more beneficial for his development. With selectors indicating that Reddy could be a future asset, especially as a backup for Hardik Pandya, his limited playtime raises critical questions about the strategic alignment within the BCCI and team management.
