2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE Debuts in America with 31-Inch Screen, Remote Seats

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the highly anticipated VLE van in the United States, marking a significant departure from its previous offerings. Unlike the Sprinter and Metris, the new VLE aims to redefine luxury in the van segment.

Introducing the 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE replaces the previous V-Class, showcasing an all-electric configuration built on a scalable 800-volt architecture. This luxury van promises to offer flexibility and sophistication, catering to both families and business needs.

Luxurious Interior Features

The VLE is designed for modularity, offering multiple seating arrangements through its manual Roll & Go seating system. Buyers can choose from three seating types:

  • Comfort (manual)
  • Premium Comfort (electric)
  • Grand Comfort (electric)

For maximum capacity, the VLE can accommodate up to eight passengers. When more cargo space is needed, seats can be easily removed or repositioned. Depending on configuration, the cargo area can range from 28.1 to 144 cubic feet.

The highlight of the interior is the massive 31.3-inch 8K-resolution screen that can be split into two 4K displays. This feature creates an unparalleled “cinema experience,” perfect for entertainment or business needs.

Advanced Technology and Comfort

All VLE models include a Superscreen with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen, with an option for a second 14-inch passenger display. For navigation, a 23.1-inch augmented reality head-up display is available.

The van also boasts high-quality materials, including leather and wood, with customizable finishes throughout the cabin. Optional features include ambient lighting and a 22-speaker Burmester 3D Surround Sound system.

Performance and Powertrains

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE will be available in two models: the VLE300 and the VLE400 4Matic. Key specifications include:

  • VLE300: Front-wheel drive, 268 horsepower, 435 miles of range (WLTP)
  • VLE400: All-wheel drive, 409 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds

Both versions feature a 115-kWh battery with fast charging capabilities, allowing for up to 220 miles of WLTP range in just 15 minutes. Additionally, the VLE offers optional air suspension for enhanced driving comfort.

Design and Dimensions

The VLE presents a sleek design, with a length of 209 inches for the short-wheelbase version and 215 inches for the long-wheelbase variant. A distinctive front grille and wrap-around taillights contribute to its modern appearance.

While specific pricing details remain undisclosed, estimates suggest it will start slightly above €50,000 in Germany, translating to around $58,000 in the U.S. The VLE aims to blend functionality and luxury, suitable for a range of uses from family travel to corporate transportation.

The Future of Luxury Vans

The anticipated launch of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE represents a significant step forward in the van market. With its unique offerings, including the 31-inch screen and luxury seating options, it is poised to compete with high-end vehicles in its class.
