Rivian has revealed the pricing and specifications for its much-anticipated R2 mid-size SUV ahead of its official unveiling. The report emerged just a day before the scheduled reveal at the SXSW Music Festival & Conference in Austin, Texas.

The starting price for the R2 Performance variant is set at $57,990, exclusive of a $1,495 delivery fee. Following this release, a Premium trim will be available in late 2026 for $53,990, while an entry-level Standard version will launch in late 2027 at approximately $45,000.

The R2 Premium offers a dual-motor setup with 450 horsepower and 537 lb-ft of torque, maintaining the same range as the Performance model but at a lower price. The Standard version will utilize a smaller battery, providing around 265 miles of range, and targets a price point of $45,000.

Reservation and Production Timeline

Since its unveiling in March 2024, the R2 has garnered significant interest, receiving over 68,000 reservations within the first 24 hours. This figure has reportedly exceeded 100,000 pre-orders, demonstrating robust demand.

Production is anticipated to commence shortly at Rivian’s Normal, Illinois plant, which has been preparing with validation vehicles since January 2024.

Rumors regarding exterior color options for the R2 have surfaced, with at least eight potential colors being considered. New additions to Rivian’s color palette for the R2 include:
