Trump’s Platform Launches New Weight Loss Drug for Price Comparison

A new weight loss medication, Foundayo, is set to launch via President Trump’s pharmaceutical price comparison website, Trump Rx. This innovative GLP-1 weight loss pill distinguishes itself by not requiring users to take it on an empty stomach, making it more accessible for those averse to needles.

Details of Foundayo Launch

Trump Rx, which was introduced in February, aims to provide cost-effective pharmaceutical options. Starting at $149 for the initial dose, Foundayo will be available for individuals without insurance. Subsequent refills will be priced at $199, with future prescriptions costing $299.

Comparative Pricing

The pricing strategy will mirror that of Eli Lilly’s direct-to-consumer platform, Lilly Direct. Although prices are the same across platforms, Trump Rx is touted as having a broader reach, presenting consumers with a “one-stop shop” for evaluating all GLP-1 medications currently available.

Insurance Coverage Costs

  • Medicare recipients: Approximately $50 per dose
  • Individuals with private insurance: Around $25 per dose

Launch Timeline and Approval

Officials suggest Foundayo may appear on Trump Rx as early as Thursday. This is notable as it is the first drug to receive approval under the FDA’s priority voucher program. The initiative was designed to expedite the review process for new drugs, reducing the timeframe from up to 12 months to just two months.

The FDA issued approval for Foundayo a mere 50 days after its submission. Eli Lilly is scheduled to begin shipping the medication on April 6.
