Details of the Layoffs
According to a WARN notice filed with the state’s Employment Development Department, the layoffs will impact two locations:
- 124 jobs will be cut in Burlingame.
- 74 jobs will be cut in Sunnyvale.
These layoffs are scheduled to occur on:
- May 22, 2026, for the Burlingame office.
- May 29, 2026, for the Sunnyvale office.

According to Meta’s Chief People Officer, Janelle Gale, the layoffs are expected to be permanent. The WARN notice stated that none of the employees affected by this decision are unionized. Additionally, separated employees will not have the right to displace remaining employees based on seniority.
