Despite the competitive tensions, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr expressed openness to the Amazon-Globalstar deal, citing its alignment with a vision for advanced direct-to-cell technologies.

Recently, Amazon petitioned the FCC to deny SpaceX’s request for up to one million satellite launches. This has drawn criticism from FCC Chairman Carr, who suggested Amazon focus on its satellite deployment timeline. Amazon must meet its target of launching half of its designated satellite constellation by July 30, 2026. However, as of January, Amazon stated that its satellite production was faster than anticipated.
